Oak Harbor Apple Festival: October 10-11, 2026
The village's signature event returns the second full weekend of October, October 10-11, 2026, along downtown Water Street. Admission is free. Expect more than 120 vendors, carnival rides, a parade, live music in the entertainment tent, the Royalty Court crowning, and some of the best apple treats in Ohio. The Apple Run road race, a tradition more than 45 years old, fires off Sunday morning on its original course. The festival draws 25,000 to 30,000 visitors every year, so plan ahead and bring the whole family.
Downtown Investment Is Picking Up
The village committed $600,000 to street improvements in 2026, and the Mill Street streetscape work is underway this fall, with pedestrian and sidewalk safety upgrades coming out of the village's comprehensive plan. Oak Harbor has also proposed a downtown Revitalization District aimed at drawing new development and keeping the business district healthy. When a town spends real money improving its streetscape, that is a signal about where it is heading, and it is good news for home values long term.
New Amenities & A Fresh School Year
The Barkyard, Oak Harbor's new dog park, has opened for local pups and their owners.
